SENSORIAL is an experiential design that invites empathy and resonance through the senses. It is the profound meeting of art, craftsmanship, and innovation.

Our mission is not to create simple objects or surfaces, but to give shape to immersive experiences capable of fully engaging sensory perception.

Our process starts with listening: desires, sensitivities, and imaginaries that emerge from each person’s personal history.

Each project, each surface, each object is a poetic translation of matter, designed to evoke emotions, stimulate the senses, and tell stories.

Maria Chiara Monacelli

Founder & Creative Director

Bio

Maria Chiara Monacelli (M.Arch.) specializes in the design of regenerative spaces and the study of the impact that architectural environments have on perception, behavior, and psychophysical well-being.

She is the Founder and Creative Director of SENSORIAL, a project that merges design, art, and neuroscience to create spaces, objects, and surfaces that stimulate the senses, evoke deep emotions, and establish an intimate dialogue between matter, body, and identity.

After graduating with honors in Architecture-Built Environment-Interiors from Politecnico di Milano, she furthered her education with a Master’s in Neuroscience Applied to Architectural Design at IUAV University of Venice and a second-level Master’s in Neuroaesthetics at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

Her academic background also includes courses at prestigious international institutions such as Berkeley, Yale, and University of the Arts London. She has participated in and coordinated major international interdisciplinary educational and cultural projects, such as Moving Boundaries – Human Sciences and the Future of Architecture, involving leading experts in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology, and Architecture.

Master Artisans

Italian craftsmanship and poetic innovation.
At the core of SENSORIAL is a network of Italian master artisans, keepers of ancient techniques and knowledge passed down through generations.

With them, we experiment with new materials: cast metals, pomace, high-end tailoring fabrics, oxides, clays, luminescent, sound, and porous surfaces.

Every element is tested, composed, and adapted to offer a completely new experience to the senses.

Neuroaesthetics and design.

SENSORIAL is inspired by neuroscience studies.

1. Design synesthesia:
seeing a sound, feeling a light, touching and listening to an emotion. SENSORIAL makes it possible to design immersive multi- sensory experiences

2. Multisensory:
materials activate the senses, strengthening the bond between perception and memory. Objects become emotional anchors.

3. Customization:
each client can tailor their experience by choosing colors, textures, sounds, and vibrations, creating spaces that reflect their personal history.

4. Neuroaesthetics:
the creations are designed to generate deep emotions and stimulate the perceptual and neurophysiological system.

5. Vibrational frequencies for well-being and regeneration:
the surfaces can diffuse frequencies studied for psychophysical well-being, tran- sforming each object into an ally for mental and physical regeneration.

Umbria:

Nature and the Geography
of Imagination

SENSORIAL was born in a land that blends culture and nature: Umbria. The inspiration comes from artistic craftsmanship, sacred art, and stone architecture typical of the region. The chromatic and material variations evoke the visual depths of ancient frescoes that adorn churches and palaces. The textures tell the story of a unique landscape, made of hills, vast meadows, lakes, mountains, and regenerating sounds.

Our projects are born from the desire for deep connection. Every space, every surface, every SENSORIAL object is an extension of the identity of those who embrace it. Every color has a meaning. Every texture a memory. Every vibration an emotion.
